35th Street Rundown

The White Sox got shut out again in a 7-0 loss to the last place Oakland Athletics.  Sun-Times, Daily Herald, Chicago Tribune, whitesox.com.

The highly anticipated debut of phenom infielder Gordon Beckham fell flat as he went 0-for-3.  Dave van Dyck highlighted Beckham’s entire first day in the Major Leagues.  Beckham is loving the Bigs, Scott Merkin writes.

Neil Hayes looks at the crop of young stars in the Chicago sports scene.

Addison Street Rundown

The Cubs are in Cincinnati following the rain-out in Atlanta.  The game was rescheduled for June 22nd. Cubs.com.

Guy Cutwright reports on the latest Carlos Zambrano misstep. Big Z missed the team flight to Atlanta earlier this week.

Gordon Wittenmyer reports that Milton Bradley will not take another trip to the DL.

Nick Friedell interviewed Mark DeRosa on his time with the Cubs.  In addition, Friedell comments on Sammy Sosa’s potential Hall of Fame bid. Sosa abruptly announced his retirement, despite not playing in the Majors since 2007.
